Ron, I have both. I use an infrared sometimes when I stop and fuel checking the tires and hubs and have the Doran pressure pro. The tire monitor will not prevent an instantaneous blowout but it will alert me of a nail or loss of pressure before the tire can go flat and come apart.

Any suggestions on where to buy a good IR thermometer at a reasonable price? Sounds like it might be worth picking up before I head out.

Dave, I bought mine at Fry's Electronics in San Diego. I believe I paid around $45 for it. You'll find cheaper ones and more expensive ones. I think Radio Shack may have them, too. And other electronics specialty stores.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

Radio Shack has a good one. Think it was like $50.00.

We had a blow out once on one of our older traliers. It did some damage to the fender shirt. Own our new trailer we installed a tire pressure mointor kit. Now I know the pressure of all the tires while I am rolling down the road. Also if the pressure starts to fall I receive a alarm in the truck cab. This takes a big worry off my mind while travling.
