Refrigerator

If I have a full refrig. and I park on a steep hill, can I turn off my refrig. for a couple of hours and than when we get ready to leave turn it back on, will this damage the refrig.?
I think I know the answer but wanted to check with the experts!
Thanks,Jack

I know it is important that the refrigerator be level for proper and safe operation. Not a problem when moving because motion keeps things moving. When turned off, but hot, those gases still floating around. If me, I would play it safe and call Dometic or Norcold and talk to a technician or find a different spot to park.

Really don't know why it would. I've never parked on an slope worse than the sideways one at a curb, so I've never worried about turning the thing off. Just don't want to keep worrying about how the brakes are holding on a front to rear slope.

The older model refrigerators were very sensitive to not being level and it would hurt them. The newer ones are not as sensitive, but depending on your angle I would also recommend talking to the manufacturer.

The newer frig's have a 3 degree side to side and a 6 degree front to back requirement. If you are beyond these angles, if you turn it off, and let it sit (level) for probably a hour or 2 for the rear outside coils to cool off, it would probably be OK.
