First Experience With Keystone Rep

Had been working through furnace issues (another post). Called Keystone and told them the Keystone dealer 1/2 mile away wasn't going to be any help and asked for the next closest authorized warranty repair person/business. The next closest one was about 45 miles away. We talked about my other option of having another RV repair service fix furnace and I pay the bill up front then submit it to Keystone. Rep said that happens and depending on repair and amount charged I may or may not get all my money back. Anyone else experience this issue for a factory warranty repair, and if so how did it turn out?

I am no expert but normally the cost of warranty repair between a authorized dealer and the manufacturer is an set price much like BC/BS will authorize payment to a participating physician and that amount may be less than a non participating physician.

.
My guess is that is the Rv service would charge more than the manufacturer would authorize a authorized dealer for warranty repair the difference would be on you.

Keystone should remove the franchise from any dealer who does not honor a Keystone product sold at their dealership.

I recently had warranty work performed by Cullum and Maxey here in Nashville (Not the buying dealer)They clearly told me they don't make as much money when doing warranty work , and that Keystone does not pay the going rate for the mechanics. With that said, Cullum and Maxey did not get the problem fixed and tried to over charge me for repairs not completed . With that being said I would not recommend Cullum and Maxey if you are in Middle Tennessee

Keystone does not warranty the furnace. Attwood does. See if there is a independent shop that does Attwood warranty. Call the local RV Park and ask if they have the phone number of a mobile service.

What is it doing? They are pretty easy to fix and it may cost you more to take it to a shop in diesel fuel than it is to just buy a part, if it does need a part.

I had a furnace issue this winter and a mobile tech fixed it and submitted a claim to Attwood for me. Same thing this summer with a A/C problem.

I had a problem while under warranty in Port Angeles, Wa. Since we were enroute via Ferry to Victoria, I elected to have a mobile repair shop fix the electrical problem (about $165) . When I got back, with the support of my selling dealer, Keystone reimbursed me the full amount. That was a couple years ago, however.

Had a service problem and my Keystone Rep made the calls and arrange payment for non Keystone dealer repairs. Even paid us for mobile service call. We paid up front for mobile guy, got refund from Keystone in five days! Don't be afraid to go over the reps head. Managers in that dept. are for the most part customer service oriented!

Took our Monty to Cullum and Maxey in Nashville, TN (not the selling dealer) and they did the warranty work of replacing the Converter/breaker component with Keystone paying the bill with no issues. When we purchased from Lazydays we discussed with them the difference between warranty work and standard service billed hours. It appears that if say a technician spends .75 hours repairing a warranty item and Keystone has determined that work should be paid at the rate of .50 hours, then the dealer loses the .25 hours of labor. Apparently this is not a big issue for Lazydays as they according to Mike Mack sell over 200 Montanas yearly.

Joe-- I'd call Keystone back and see if they have any authorized independent service techs in the area! They might have one that you can call or call one on your own and have them call for authorization to work on the unit!

Had a propane issue in Deming, NM while under warranty. In our case there was no local dealer. Keystone authorized a local repairman and paid us asap.

Had furnace trouble last Dec. in San Antonio. Had this mobile repair man fix the problem and then called Keystone to see how lucky I would be.They sent me a check for the total amount. It just took them 2 months to do it. I got the cart ahead of the horse by getting it fixed before asking Keystone but it was cold and I really didn't care. Took a chance and Keystone came through. This issue was on a 2014 3850.

Four Winds has a small dealership in East Peoria Illinois and a larger lot in Maroa Illinois. The one here in East Peoria has about 30 units for sale (3 or 4 Montanas) and of course a shop/parts department. I bought my Reese hitch there last year and even had them install it plus I have probably purchased a couple hundred in other RV related stuff from them. The owner is actually at their Maroa facility. I may drop an email to him and let him know how I feel about his East Peoria store's business practices.

The email sounds like a good idea. He may not know there's a problem.

When I had(SOB)new trailer, my furnace would not work-blown fuses-my dealer could not find the problem.(dumb @#$)SO went to independent repair shop, he fixed it in two days, warranty under Atwood, the manufacturer of the furnace. With a unit like furnaces or other appliances I would go else where if dealer would not fix the problem. Appliance manufacturers is almost happy to warranty thier product.

We had a problem with our Norcold fridge and the Thetfod john. We went directly to the manufacturer and were taken care of with not a problem.
