Better lock for metal storage box in TV box

I have a Better Built metal storage box in the TV box. The lock on the storage box is too easy to break in to. All a thief needs is a metal punch and a hammer. I was thinking of screwing on a rasp and using a quality lock. Has anyone implemented a better solution for protecting the contents of the storage box from a thief? Appreciate your thoughts.

If you are talking a hasp and a padlock all it takes is a bolt cutter and they are in your storage box much quicker and quieter that a punch and a hammer.

Fire5er,

Excellent point about the bolt cutter. I've sent Better Built an e-mail asking if they sell a more secure locking system for their storage boxes.

Thanks for your comment.

The locks deter the "honest" thieves.. not the determined ones. Nothing will deter the determined ones.

"Pros" bring their tools with them and pick their targets. If they want it bad enough, no lock will stop them. Amateurs are opportunists and will go for the easy targets. Motion activated lights are one deterrent. Thieves hate being in the "limelight" and will usually move on to easier targets. A couple of loud bangs work well too.
