HELP, I am picking up our new 2980RL Montana

First day on this Montanaowners.com forum. My wife and I should be picking up our new 2980RL Montana this weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions we need to know, when we do our walk through? Has there been any problems with the new 2908RL's?

Thank you,

Rich

Find one of the PDI check list on this forum and use it...Do not sign any papers till you are completly satisfied.Since it has already been pulled to CA look for loose water fittings, leaking valve stems, uneven cabinet doors or loose cabinet doors.Tne trip from In to CA should be a pretty good shakedown trip.

I second the "do not pay for it until you are satisfied." Some dealers work and quality slow down after they have your money. Remember it is not yours until you sign the papers. Take all the time you need with the PDI and let the dealer know you are going to use it. Good luck and hope you have a good dealer.
Safe towing.

Rich, we had a 2980rl and loved it. The main problem we had was over torque on the cabinet hinge mounting screw. Not sure what keystone uses for a music system now but make sure it works well on Am and FM and that all speakers work. Most of the rear speakers only work during surround sound, but make sure you do not get a hiss over them with the stereo system.

Good luck and enjoy your new rig.

Rich be sure to check that the fridge and water heater work on LP as well as the Electric. On my first unit the fridge did not come on when using LP. Also my 2980RL is a 2004 version so that uses hydrallic's to move the slide outs make sure they complete explain how to open just one slide out if the newer units still use this type of setup.

Hook it up and make sure there are no errors on your brake controller.

We also have a 2006 2980RL. Great layout for us, love all the countertop space.
You can look in my "Mod's" in my signature to see what changes we have made.
Good luck with your new Monty.

Cannot stress it enough. Go through EVERYTHING ...BEFORE the transaction is finalized. As mentioned already the dealer wants to complete the sale not rework. After everything has been gone through while plugged in. Unplug the trailer and check water pump gas operation on water heater and frige. Another recomendation is to find a CG close by. Spend a night, see what questions and problems arise. Chances are the trailer will be fine, we are saying here is more precaution than anything. Congratulations on the new trailer. I remember when we picked up our Mountaineer, could not get the smile off my face.

Rich,

We also have a 2980RL. We love the floor plan, and as fulltimers find that we have plenty of room for all of our needs and toys!

If we can help with any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!
