Ice Cooler for TV??

Trying to decide what quality ice chest to buy for TV. We have an upcoming 4300 mile drive to tow the DW's car to Florida. Driving thru Canada, 10 days to Florida, then 3 days to Indiana to pickup 5th wheel. Once we pick up the 5th wheel my thinking is we are towing a 12cf fridge why have a high end cooler in the TV? DW's thinking is the fridge might not stay cold traveling for the day opening and closing it.

What do you do? Cooler in the TV for traveling or just pull over for cold drinks or snacks/lunch?

We have a small cooler for the backseat to keep water and soda and cut up fruit or veggies with dip etc in. For the major meals we still stop and either do a resturant of get in the frig for stuff. Any decent cooler will do just make sure it don't leak. Coleman makes some decent coolers.

2nd a small cooler in the truck and a bag of snacks. we like our soda's ice cold from a cooler verses right out of the refrig. Much colder. We keep that small cooler going even after we are at the cg and it is stored by the refrig. or outside. We get ice from the portable ice maker we bought from Targer $100.00. The cooler holds about 12-15 sodas. Great when the grandkids are visitng the RV keeps them from opening and closing the refrig 20 million times letting the cold air out.

We always keep a cooler with ice and drinks when on the road and when at a RV Park. We have the large 12 cu ft refrigerator in the BIG Sky but the cooler with drinks still keep the refrig. door closed with more room for food and the drinks are colder. Also always have more ice for drinks when visitors stop by. The cooler is also good for day trips away from the RV for food and drinks or storing food from the grocery store that needs to me kept cold from the store or fresh food from fruit stands along the road when touring the area.

We don't use a cooler when we travel. We use insulated cups for our drinks and stop often enough for gas and bathroom breaks to take care of continual cold drinks and food when necessary. Even though we have a huge truck we also have a huge cage in the back with two stories of living space for our three cats.

We have a small cooler and snacks. We like ice in our drinks, so we keep ziplocks full in freezer and transfer to cooler as needed. Portable ice maker always makes more than enough. Larry

there isn't enough freezer room in our 8 cu ft fridge and no room for even small ice-cube tray as we try to food shop once a week from our dry-camp, and my bane never enough room for broccoli as well

we use an igloo style 12volt cooler. Plug it into your power port and no need to worry about ice. find them at walmart,camping world and I am sure on the www.

Just a personal observation about the 12 volt car coolers ... as long as you put something cold in them, they sorta keep it cold. If you expect to put a couple of cans of pop or water at room temp in one and have the 12 volt cooler cool them down to a refreshingly cool temperature ... it ain't gonna happen unless you have a day or two before getting thirsty.
