tire pressure
Our son was checking the 5er out for the weekend trip and he said the tires say 90 pounds--now I know everybody says 80 pounds psi. our tires are Tacoma--are they really supposed to be 90 pounds. I don't think Paul ever eally looked at them, just assumed they were to be at 80. He is still on his trip to south America with his dad so can't ask him. anyway our son said he filled them to 90. does anyone else's tires say 90? I told him to read the number again.

Hi Paul & Jan,
We have Mission tires on our unit, and they say 80 PSI. (cold)
I would not run mine with 90 PSI, as tire pressure will increase on its own as the tires warm up when moving.

well, I just talked to my son and he looked again--guess what it does say 80. You send these kids to college and look what happens. Anyway thanks for the reponses.

Make sure you check pressures cold. The pressures will go up when hot.

By the way, most of the tires that have been mentioned really say "maximum" pressure is 80psi.
All tires should be aired to a pressure that properly supports the load. Check on the Internet for your tire size, and the proper tire inflation for your load. You can also go to a web site of one of the more well know tire manufacturers such as Goodyear for more information.
The info will show that most of the time, you should be running less than 80psi. And the trailer will not ride as rough.
