No hot water.....

We're currently on the road again and about three days our water heater quit working. Both on electric AND gas.

Anybody have any ideas?

Cold showers are no fun......

Thermocouple? I refer to the thermostat under the rubber reset cover.

And don't forget those crappy power connections that crop up...which require partially pulling the water heater to check. Yeah, really love that excellence in engineering setup. The water heater works great if it has 12vdc for control board and propane or 120vac for electric element. And then there is that switch outside behind the cover that has on occasion fried the wires to it...yeah, gotta partially pull to check that too. Good luck. John

You're right, that doesn't look anything like mine. What brand is that?

I think there are two thermostats. One for gas and one for 110. If true doubt both went out.
If you pull the relief valve on water heater is water cold there? If so when on gas does the burner lite? If no, do you hear the igniter trying to light?

Yup, it's an Atwood 10 gallon gas and electric model.

I checked all the connections, reset the breakers, examined the fuse, all ok. I'm guessing it might be the circuit board.

I guess I'll have to stop at a dealer to see if they can diagnose the issue.

Try this I had the same problem and it solved it. On your circuit board there is a two amp fuse. Pull it out and check it. If its good, clean off the contacts , apply a bit of dielectric grease and push back in. Mine worked after that . If its blown replace it.

You need to be cautious using dielectric grease on contacts, especially 12 volt connections. Dielectric grease is an insulating grease, so a conducting grease would be a better choice. I brought home, a few little tubes of dielectric grease for my Dad, a number of years ago, so he could use it on his boat trailer to keep the bulbs from corroding from the water when he launched his fishing boat. The next time I visited him, he said the lights weren't working on his trailer. It was the grease, so off to the auto parts store and purchased the correct grease. I did a little research and found this, and I'm sure there are other brands. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...ctrical+grease

Interesting information. But Googling "Dielectric Grease Types" disclosed some difference of opinion. This article argues the metal in "conductive" Dielectric Grease is too little to be of value and may actually damage the connection depending on the metal types being connected.
