Remove sofa with air mattress

Would like to remove the sofa that has an air mattress, I know it is heavy.. Can it be taken apart to make it easier to get out the door and up the stairs and into a bedroom at the house...

Some of them you can take the back off, others, like ours, you just need three of four large guys and plenty of time.

On our 2007 the seat back was actually 2 pieces and would lift off by itself. Also I would suggest that you could remove the metal bed mechanism which makes it so much lighter to handle.

In most cases I have found that 3 or 4 screws hold it in place on each side, then just lift the body off the metal frame and go. If you worry about getting things lined up again just draw the outline of exactly where the frame brackets attach.

Much, much easier to handle without the frame and matt.

I just did this this past fall. After I removed the back, I was able to remove the whole couch by myself. Don't let the task intimidate you. It's not as hard as it looks.

I've taken ours apart into three pieces (counting the drawer). Kind of a bear still as it's awkward, but it's not that heavy then.
