Freezeguard Winterizing Sucks

Drained the water system and went to add antifreeze. Pump ran but didn't pull antifreeze from the jug. Pulled pickup hose and inspected. Tried again. No luck. Hmm. Called MOC friend steves in NJ. He ran me through swith/valve checks and all OK. Told me it sounds like bad suction or air leak. Checked freezeguard fitting in convenience center again. Installed/added a hose washer and Voila! Started sucking antifreeze like it was supposed to. Sometimes it pays to have smart friends and double check all systems?!!! Life is good and our baby is back in bed (storage) for the winter.

The double washer is the key on the last two rigs we have had. The 3400 never had a problem.

Oddly enough, mine is just the opposite. With the original washer there was not enough threads left on the fitting to get a good tight fit on the hose. When I tightened it too tight, it simply popped off. I had to use a thinner washer. Then all was fine.

And don't forget to do the black tank flush line.

Winterizing is a pain! That's why we go to Florida for the winter...

Chris I have a special way to winterize, Go south before the temps get to freezing. I'll be in touch this winter when I see the Maryland forecast and I'm setting on the patio having a cold one. Ed

I winterized just yesterday and everything went smooth. However, I certainly wish that Keystone would have placed a second pump switch in the service center. That would make things a lot easier when winterizing.
