Storage Door Lifters

Has anyone had the lifters pull out of the storage doors? Both of them ripped out of one of the doors. The other one is fine. We haven't handled them roughly or anything, so don't know why they did this on our 2011 3400 Montana.

The brackets for the struts on the baggage doors are a re-occurring problem for many of us. Check the "Search" feature to find previous postings.

Jsmitfl: Can you post your picture here? I am curious what solution worked for you.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. All are better than the broomstick we're currently using!

Well I been trying to get this done for a good hour. I hope it is ok with everyone. Don't know why the picture is all the way to the right.

I've tried to clean up some of the code. Hopefully I did not delete anything critical. Thanks, RVWheels, MOC Admin.

The picture is screwed up due to Photobucket's recent change. They are returning extraneous coding in response to your upload. This is an error by Photobucket IMHO and confuses folks who don't do a lot of photo displays on forums such as this. In your case you received:

IMG]http://www.montanaowners.com/attachments/photobucket/img_505432_0_bdd21e32aac3c155f93f634f9c47bca1.jpg[/IMG]

[blue]The code bounded by and the at the very end (which display in RED in the above example) are not used on the MOC. What you want to use is the above code displayed in NAVY. It should look like this in the source of your posting.

And will display like this when presented on the screen:

There are some pictures on the forum of failed attempts at this repair including the glue it to the door Keystone fix. The doors are just not sturdy enough for the struts. We are going to have a long talk with Keystone at the fall rally.

Please let me know what they say. You also could mention what a safety hazzard it is to have all this variety of home fixes when their struts fail. The doors are heavy and a person's head is the first thing the door hits if the door comes down.

IMO there are two fixes to the problem.. A sturdier door, now DRV has a sturdier door and the same problem. Or back to the swing out doors. mIne pulled out after about 5 months without warning and hit me on the noggin. I am not happy.

Thanks JP, ours still look good, and have the 60 lbs struts, but our experience is that what works today maybe broke tomorrow. It appears to be all about spreading out the force over a larger area.

I have a 2013 285rld. Got in June. Screws came out 2 days ago.
Put bigger screws with a dab of epoxy on the screws.
