Bathroom Furnace Vent
Couldn't take the heat in that water closet!!
Replaced the factory vent with an adjustable dampered diffuser from http://www.dwincorp.com/index.php
It requires a 4" X 2" reducer, also available at the same site. (this stuff is all relatively cheap). Some creativity required, as the vent is actually made for a 4" pipe. The reducer has to be installed lower than normal with screws to allow enough room for the damper to operate. The 2" pipe gets installed with a clamp, then all wrapped in alluminum tape. The whole thing is accessed from the basement (at least our model).
Of course, we replaced the remaining floor vents with adustible damper types from Home Depot.

That is great Brad. That sure beats sitting a bucket over it. Guess you know what my next project is.

Brad you have been busy and with good ideas. We have the enclosed bath so hopefully we wont have this problem but it is good to know that it can be taken care of.

I moved that bathroom heat vent to the living room. It now exits into the living room from under the steps. I just screwed the vent onto the back of the wood grille on the bottom step. I get more than enough heat out of the large vent upstairs to heat the water closet.

That is a great site for "stuff". Just wondering why you did not use the 2" vent cover? That would save making up a reducer.
Thanks for link. Maybe Glenn will add it to his site.

Thanks all,
John, I wish I could have used a 2", but the factory hole is already 4".
Weather has been great here for the last week. Not good enough to de-winterize though - as March we typically get hit with the heaviest snows.

I appreciate having a heat vent in the water closet since my Fleetwood didn't have that. But, while on my vacation, I still noticed a significant temperature drop in there compared to the other rooms. I guess some is better than none.

I'm sorta liking the idea about Re-Venting the bathroom duct in to the living room. Me and mama both agree that the bedroom vent is more than adequate for the water closet.
Nice idea.

I dunno Blue - Our 2003 didn't have a bathroom vent, and it sure could get cold in there with the door closed. Shivering cold. Wasn't practical to leave the door open, as it is always in the way. I'm actually glad to have one in the bathroom, just needed it throttled down a bit.
