Winter covers for Montana in Northern States

Hi All,

i know there has been some discussion on the pros and cons of getting covers to protect our 5ers from sun damage but how necessary are they (and how well do they work) to protect 5ers from ice and snow damage for the few of us who can't yet flee to warmer climates for the winter? Anyone had experience in the frozen north?
