SOFA IN 3685FL

We have a 2004 3685FL with 2 jacknife sofas, has anyone thought of removing one and puting in 2 recliners? I was looking at the slide and was thinking of cuting the platform the sofa sits on and leaving the center for a table which will leave room for the slide mechinism (I think) and 2 chairs on each side,it will leave about 10 12 inches behind where the slide is up. need to get exact measurements, I only eyeballed it.I searched but no topic, I know somone has talked about geting this as a new option but the factory didnt offer it.. any thoughts.

Bob,

I believe that's been done by more than a few FL owners. I do believe I've even seen one so-equipped at a dealership, as well. Not certain.

I'm not sure just why, but it seems there's a mandate to furnish Monties with the God-awfullest sofas.

We're about ready to dump the two original recliners in this Monty. (Falling apart.) We're going to be measuring and searching to find Lazy Boys to replace them, I think. One of our dogs has adopted the sofa, so it'll stay. But I have to make sure the arm that may be on the recliner to withdraw the footrest doesn't stick out too far. One of these chair's arms got hooked on the slide, once. And, as expected, it was the last slide to close, so I had to undo all the slides to get it free. No damage, other than lost minutes.

Measure twice! Regret not once.

Steve

We replaced our sofa and recliners with a reclining leather loveseat and a glider chair and ottoman. It's the BEST thing we ever did to our Montana. What an awesome improvement. Our old sofa was so uncomfortable you couldn't sit in it for 30 minutes before it started cutting into the back of your leg because the pillows were so lousy. We now use a blowup mattress for our overnite guests.

Bob&Lee, we have thought about the same thing. I have heard about people doing this but have never seen any real good instructions. Our oldest one doesn't go with us much anymore and we only really need one sofa. The thought of a couple of lazy boys up there sounds pretty interesting. I hope someone here can shed some light for us, as I would like to know what would fit as well.

The older models 3655FL had that. one side was sofa the other were recliners. Should not be that big of deal. there is carpet all under our since I have had one loose to get something out from under it. But remember that the slide motor is under there, you will need to find a way to hide the motor.

Hello all!
When Steve and I were looking to buy this past spring, we looked at the 2006 3685FL and loved it; except for the two sofas. We really wanted just the one sofa and wanted to put a recliner opposite it. We were told by the dealer that it wasn't possible because the slide mechanism was there. He also told us that the older 3655FL model did have one sofa. This changed our mind, and we ended up buying a great used 2003 front living (with only one jacknife). Of course then, we didn't know about the forum. The dealer told us that it was impossible and I just believed him. Would be interested in knowing if someone else has removed the second sofa.

Re: 2004 3685FL-Can you cut out the raised part of the two living room slides? I thought that area contained slide controls.
