If you have the disconnect switch in the convenience center enabled, the the slide out switches inside should work.

The slides operate off of the 12vdc battery. As jfaberna said, make sure your battery disconnect switch is in the on position inside the convenience center, and you have enough charge in your battery.

One thing, the way the battery disconnect switch is labeled confuses many of us. On our rig ON means the disconnect is on not the power.

Your slides will run off your converter if you're plugged in, otherwise you must have a charged battery. That disconnect switch is like others have said, as well as it does not disconnect everything - leaving your unit in storage will still drain the battery.

Our slides and levelers operate whether the disconnect is on or off. Lights etc do not.

As mike said the battery disconnect switch should have nothing to do with the slides or level up, mine work with it on or off and I believe unless someone has rewired the circuit breakers(12V) then they all work the same way.
There is a warning near the slide button that says not to operate the slides without a battery, your converter would be hard pressed to supply enough current to operate them.

If your battery is fully charged it should operate the slides but without 120V it will not be getting a charge from the converter. Is there a problem with your 120V? or do you just not have power available.
