River Road RV Campground, Hayward, WI
Wow! We are traveling and left Michigan this morning and decided to stop at:
River Road RV Campground
W449 East River Rd
Hayward, WI 54843
715-634-2054
There are no amenities at the campground. No pool, no rest rooms, no showers, no laundry - no amenities. Well, there are a couple port-a-potties for tenting people. However, this is a well kept, grass field with 15 RV sites, all FHU, pull through, set 5 to a row, with a very large space between pedestals. If you want to talk to your neighbor you will either go to their site, or call them on the phone. The field is well maintained, no ruts what-so-ever, and level. It is a great stopping point for one night, or several nights of rest. The town of Hayward is about 4 miles away. We are traveling from the Marquette, MI, area to the Minneapolis, MN area and this was a convenient stop. The owners are Gerald and Beverly Nemitz. Gerald is 86 years young. They are both very nice people. If you are traveling in the area and need a place to stay, give them a holler and support. It is a nice campground.

Not heading West. Heading home to Texas. Trying to figure out the best route to stay above water, with all the flooding going on.

I-80 is good all the way through if you want to come this way. The Missouri is flooding but not over 80! Come on out West and enjoy the water free route!

Wayne, I'm trying to get to Canada next week and normally take I-29 all the way to Winnepeg. I'm having to alter my route as I-29 has at least 3 flood detours between KC and Fargo. You can head west to Minnesota and pick up I-35. As of this morning it's open all the way to Texas. Jim

Thanks Jim. That's good news. We have stayed off the Interstates and have really enjoyed our two months, so far, travels on US Highways. So much more scenic than the Interstates. I'm not to sure of heading south, crossing the Missouri, Mississippi and other rivers with all the flooding going on. Originally I heard that Minot, SD area would be flooded through August but there isn't much televised news on the massive flooding that the Missouri River has caused. We crossed over the Mississippi coming through Minnesota and the river tree trunks were not visible. The water level was up to the branches.
what a year.
