The further you drop the pin box away from the frame the more it becomes a pendulum ever time you stop or start off over time it can work on flexing the frame I try to make most of my adjustments at the hitch in my truck if I can. I'm not saying you can lower the pin box I have had to do on other 5er of my own. As you can see there is a lot of problems with frame flex out there on all brands!

I would disagree with builderbob's comments. Yes there is a penulum stress, but in my thinking it would be on the truck hitch and mounting frame, not the trailer. If you think about it, whether the pin box is way up high or close to the truck, the stopping force is the same on the trailer frame. But with the pin higher, it creates more 'leverage' and twisting force on the hitch.

If this was true the manufactures of pin boxes would not have the adjustment
available for you to use without a warning of possible damage to the camper or at least a statement of voided warranty if you do. Keystone and others would have done this if it was a potential problem now or in the future.
Generic statements ? Given the number of units sold in the last couple of years the few with fame issues is very very small certainly not "a lot".

I agree with Bob to try to make the adjustment at the hitch, but if push came to shove, I don't think dropping the pin box 2" will add much additional stress to the frame. But I will worry about frame flex due to some of the horror stories on the forum. That's one reason I'm spending the extra $$ on the Hensley hitch.

Do you think the Hensley contributes to the problem, that a solid hitch would not?
