Replacing escape window with no screen
This is a slideshow I made when I changed out the bedroom escape window, the original was a push-out; no screen for some reason, so I bought a sliding window with screen.
Just unscrew the small screw that stops the entire window from sliding off the rail. slide the window off and slide the new window on, replace the small screw and... "Bob's your Uncle.."
It is also an escape window.

Does the new window retain the fire escape mechanism? The lack of a screen has "bugged" us for several years.

OZZ, I have a question. Do you have to remove the window first before you can do the swap? That's what it looks like in your slide show. Thanks.

It is very easy, the frame stays in place and you don't need the frame that comes with it. Just remove the stop-screw, half-open the window and slide it off, then slide the new one on, screw the screw back in and it's done.

Ozz, attempted to order the window- order desk didn't understand my request. His reply is "none of our escape windows have a screen". Would you provide the part number you ordered. Hopefully this will get him in the correct section of their catalog. Also he was very confused on the sizing information. I measured the window from the inside 31.5 wide x 21.5 high (including the interior trim) - he wanted window opening size - said it should be approx 6 inches wider then the window (glass)size.

Sounds like he is jerking you around.
PM me with his number, name and his position; like salesman? Either he is a smart-a## or just stupid and incompetent.
My guess would be the latter..
