Winegard Carryout

Has anyone ever mounted their Winegard Carryout on their rear ladder? Winegard makes a mount, but I was thinking there would be a lot of vibration from the bumpy roads and would break something inside.

we saw one mounted on the ladder mount on the way down to Florida. It was moving all over the place. We were considering a ladder mount for out Winegard G2 + but not after we saw that. The ladder mount maybe but not the carryout on the mount while in travel.

One of our camping friends has their carryout mounted on the ladder. 5 years and thousands of miles and no problem.

When we had one it was mounted on the ladder unless there was a tree issue, then we took it down and put it where it needed to be.

As long as things are real tightly mounted, you shouldn't have any problems. Thinking about it, it would probably be better off than being loose in your vehicle or truck bed when going down the ups, downs and bumps of the roads. The key is to periodically go up and make sure it remains tightly fastened.

The only problem is what DQDick mentioned, that it's fixed position might be affected by a tree.

I agree with DQDick. Most of the time trees are in the way of the RV rear.

I have a Wineguard carry-out mounted on my ladder for the last 4 years. Works great and have had no issues except occasional lack of signal while parked in the trees. I purchased Wineguards ladder mount and have it set to where the top of the dome is just above the roof-line, but lower than the top of the ac unit. It's wired with the auto search button located next to the tv for convenience.

The trailer has been coast to coast and traveled many a mile on bad roads that don't appear to have any effect on the ladder or mount. I would recommend it as a good alternative to a permanent roof top unit.

Considered the ladder mount but decided in the end we wouldn't travel with it up there so it would be a pain to climb up and install at each campground.

We have one successful for at least 5 yrs. we bought it after someone thought they needed the Winegaurd more than we did at our campsite lucky us, did not get the job done. Bought the ladder mount the next day. I have been behind our RV numerous times going down the road it does not move.

I just carry my Winegard in the basement. When I get to a campground I look around and make sure there is no blockage, trees, buildings, RV's. I look and see where other RV's have there Satellite dish pointed and then I decide whether to set my winegard on the living room slide or the bedroom slide. The Winegard Portable Satellite is suppose to be level and after you level the RV the slides are level. Works great. I picked up a telescopic ladder on Amazon for $80 and it makes it really easy to put it in a good spot.

Have this set up for 4 years with lots of miles, some bumpy, and no problems. Like ranch560 I made sure the top of the dome was about the same height as the top of the rear A/C. The only issue I have, still not resolved is that I can not get a signal to the TV through the cable connect in the convenience center. I run the power and antenna through the back side window. I wish I could find a way to make the cable connection work in the convenience center.
