Built-in vacuum operation

We have a built-in vacuum in our new 3611RL and it's got all sorts of wands and attachments. I don't see a way to turn it on without going to the basement and hitting the switch on the unit. The little foot controlled switch works for the sweep-up function, but not for the wand.
Has anyone run into this before?

Ours automatically turns on when you plug the hose in.

On our 2010 and 2015, on/off switch next to where the hose connects, mounted in the kitchen.

Your vacuum is mounted in the basement??? Well, that can't be very convenient at all. In all our units it has been mounted flush on a cupboard and the switch of course is on the unit.

Look where you connect the hose, surely they didn't put that in the basement. It's not a big switch and on ours the same color as the unit.

Mine is a 2015 and the Vacuum is in a cupboard and the only thing to do to turn it on is a little toggle switch on the lower right side ,it is hard to see sometimes because it kind of dark in there

Ours is in the basement and it's great. You barely hear it when we're vacuuming. Our switch is incorporated in the wall plate which the hose plugs into. When you plug in the hose, it starts.

A few of the newer Montanas I've seen have the vac motor in the basement near the steps and a hose from the motor running to the outlet near the bedroom steps. You just plug in the vac hose, it completes the circuit and the vac comes on. I knwo what some of you are talking of ... my 05 had the whole unit mounted in the wall. You just flipped a switch on the unit itself.

wm5e ... can you see a single wire running from the motor to the outlet where you plug the vac hose and wand in near the steps? It has to be attached to the outlet so when you plug in the hose, it completes the circuit and powers up the vac motor.

This would certainly work well being configured like our residential c/v. All our rv units thus far, including our 2015, have not had the metal ring or two metal contacts in the outlet to complete a circuit.
