Battery charging while towing

I have a 2005 Chevy silverado. This morning when we left battery showed 1/2 charged. After 4 hours travel time it still showed 1/2 charge. Battery is one year old.

I wonder if it is a fuse in tv. I looked over owners manual and am not quite sure which fuse I should check. Anyone with a silverado diesel know the answer?

Thanks for any assistance.

Yes. There is a fuse that you must get and put it in the box under the hood. I don't remember the size. I had my old Montana at the dealer several years ago and the battery was dead after I left it for a repair. We plugged it into the truck and the mechanic checked the box for a fuse and there was none. They installed it for free.

the fuse is 40 amp. go to the dealer and see the service writer and he will get one an install it . the fuse box is under the hood on the driver side.

I don't know about the 2005 model year but my 2008 had a wire taped back to the steering column that had to be connected to a lug by fuse box.

Thinking about my post. My comment only applies if it has never worked.

It's always worked before this trip. I had to install a fuse on first use but don't remember which one it was.

I had a 2006 Silverado. If my memory is correct, if you remove the fuse box cover under the hood, there is a map or some sort of labels in it. Also the manual shows the fuse layout. You can get one at Autozone, etc places.

I have a 2005 GMC and had the same problem. I found that there was a break in he wire some where along the frame rail. I ran a new # 10 wire from the fuse panel. This is not an isolated case as I know of a couple others with GM products that had the same problem. I have a tester that I can plug into the 7 way connecter and check if the tail lights, signal, and brake lights work as well if there is 12 volt at the 7 way.

If you take a continuity tester or Volt meter and check pins 1 and 4 you will determine if you have power at the socket on the TV. Note the notch and adjust accordingly.
