Batteries
We need to purchase new batteries for the Montana and also another camper we have. What should we know before buying the replacement batteries. We're looking for a specific brand if you can recommend or not recommend.

What's your camping habits as in boon dock alot or not so much? Boon dock = multiple 6V in series ... Not so much = single 12V
Go with a name brand so it is easily replaced if it goes bad.

I agree. Have used batteries from NAPA and O'Riley before. You just need someone you trust who will stand behind the warranty.

And if you have two or more in the same rv, replace them all at the same time or the old one will kill the new. John

We don't boondock (or parking lot) at all so I just took my single 12v from the Monte to NAPA and told them to give me their equivalent. Have also used NAPA batteries in cars and trucks and tractors and been happy with them. The rare occasion one went bad early they replaced it without a receipt prorated on months left.

The Exide battery that is almost 2 yrs old had been good for us. It is original equipment.

According to "battery Bob" at our Golf cart repair facility in Florida the "Crown" battery is now the best on the market. We just had two new batteries in our Montana and our dealer installed Crown batteries and said the same thing.

Thanks for the input. I did my due-diligence and had decided on an Interstate Battery from a local dealer. The decision was primarily made because I had heard they had a quality battery and, even though the cost was a little higher ($148) we were told there was an 18-month full replacement warranty with a 72-month pro ration basis warranty. Part of the research had located an AC/Delco battery with an 18-month full replacement warranty ($119). When I went to purchase the Interstate battery and was told it only had a 12-month full warranty...period! After much discussion, they made a concession and gave me an 18-month full replacement warranty. Couldn't add the 72 month pro ration warranty. In some respects it was good....but, I could have had the Ac/Delco for a lot less money! Still deciding if I want to take the Interstate back. What do ya think?

I have always used AMG Lifeline Batteries in all my RV's since I have been camping. If you do get a bad battery you will get a new one with no trouble what so ever.
here is there link
