Slide leak

Went in to get a pair of Jeans from my closet next to the bed, on our 3400RL
I moved some jeans to get to the bottom of the pile, and this is what I found.

George, I'm presuming you are talking about the small wardrobe that is to the left of the bed in the bedroom slide! First I'd go outside and get up on the roof and check out if the tape that is sealing the top roofing fabric to the edge has started to peel. If that is the case you can do one of several things--1. peel the tape up, clean the area well and put down new tape, making sure you stretch the tape as you install it and make sure you seal it completely onto the surface by rolling it with a rolling pin or a seam sealer that you use for sealing the edges of wallpaper when installing it. 2. Check to see if the caulking has cracked and started to peel back both on the roof of the slide and also along the side of the slide. If it is cracked or peeling you can use the self leveling caulk on the top to reseal it and a good caulk on the sides if it is on the side of the slide. Also check to see if joint between the trim on the slide and the facing is separating-- if so use a good rv caulk and fill in the joint. Any RV store or dealership will carry all of these caulks. IF you use silicone caulk it will collect dirt and look really nasty in a couple of months. Don't ask how I know this!

Be sure to check the walls and the floor for rot since the area looks like it has really been wet.

Thank you I will check all the places you suggested. I have a heater pointed in it right now drying. When its done I will pull the carpet and check. Tomorrow I will climb on the roof and check.

In our model we don't have any closet in the slide but we did get a similar thing going on next to the bed. It was the 4" trim strip on the bottom edge of the slide that was at fault. Recaulked that and no more problem. Like Rondo I would advise against silicone. Did the job, but now a couple of years and a lot of dusty roads latter it looks like crap.

We had the carpet on the opposite side of the bed getting wet every time wee traveled in rain. The KS Tech at the fall rally said it was the loose screws and chalking along the bottom of the slide. They would authorize a RV tech to do the work.
When I took the trailer in for the new roof before Christmas - the tech looked at it and said the slide needed adjusted - he could get his hand up between the trailer body and slide when it was closed. Have not had and rain to make sure it corrected the problem.
The KS Tech was not looking with the slide in. NOTE: my RV Tech was authorized by KS to bill for his service - he said he was not going to....Thank You - Rick's RV service Kaufman TX.
