Landing gear

I just had my second landing gear fail. The street side failed the 1st of Sept 09, now the curb side unit has failed. Anyone else had this problem? The unit was built 5/20/09. They told me at the factory during the rally that they were looking into replacing these jacks with hydraulic units.

I believe it was stressed to not run the legs up too far as the teeth on the gears will break off. Don`t know if that is your problem but it`s a reminder to others. We have made a mark on our landing gear legs as a stop guide.

During our PDI, this was stressed, so we marked the legs and always use a 4" support boards under each leg to reduce the distance they have to drop.

Is the gear teeth giving up or is it the small shear pin that is shearing. With a single motor two jack system we always ensure both legs are lifting equal weight by shimming with proper blocking. If one is doing all the work especially when getting ready to unhook; a great deal of force is required on the jacks if you try to lift the front of the 5th wheel and some weight of the TV.
