tv antenna

We have a 04 2980RL with the orignal tv antenna. We purchased this trailer in May and the tv that came with it was the old style Toshisba that did not fit the cabinet well. We recently updated with a LCD HDTV. I have not been able to get a signal when attached or hooked up to the antenna plug in. I was told that I had to update the present antenna because it is good for analog stations only.
I am wondering if the current hookups have been altered as the previous owner had a satelite and a couple of splitters installed in the hookup. So now I don't know if I need a new antenna or have a internal wiring problem.
Would appreciate any input.
Thanks

Is the head of your antenna white? If so, it SHOULD be digital ready, IIRC. Try getting the splitters out of the circuit. I found that the splitter to supply the basement antenna jack was causing me to not receive channels that I did get in the bedroom (no splitter). You also ought to check and make sure that the 12 volt DC is getting to the antenna head when the amplifier switch is on. Take a voltmeter up on the roof with you and disconnect the cable from the antenna head. You should read 12 volts (+/-) across the cable inner lead and connector body. Also, antenna aiming seems to be somewhat more critical with the digital signals.

Finally, I'm assuming your new TV has a digital tuner or one of the digital-to-analog converters and that you have tried rescanning the channels, which you will need to do every time you move to a new broadcast area.

Hope the fix is simple and cheap for you.
