Truck discharging

Our truck has been in the shop for over a week due to discharging when first started. Went to Advanced Auto first to have the batteries and alternator tested as the batteries were over 5 yrs old. Charging good batteries discharged so I bought two new batteries as we were driving to Rockford the next dat to pick up our new unit. After a couple of days it showed an initial discharge again and than charging ok after driving. Went to our local shop and after lots of testing they determined it was the input heater pulling mega amps when warming up. New heater on order and should have the truck back tomorrow.
