Goodyear Endurance ST Tires

I noticed that Northwood is putting Goodyear Endurance tires on the Arctic Fox 5th wheels. Anyone have any experience with these tires?

A relatively new product from GY that is looking good. Worth considering on lighter units, under 12K or 13K #. Heavier mean Sailun for certain.

Great so far.

I don't remember the brand that came on my 2015 Montana, but after several issues I replaced them with these Goodyear Endurance tires, highly recommended by Discount Tire, and they have been perfect since then.

Certainly happy to see another ST tire choice from a US manufacturer.
Wish more would get in the game.

Montana installs Sailun on all Montana units and in 2019 at least some HC. Sailun has the best reputation of all at this point. Few Montana are light enough for a LR E IMO. Even on previous HC the LR was F recently.
Not knocking Endurance but they are too light for most Montana applications.

Yea. Would love to see the Endurance in an F range tire.
Good weight ratings on the Endurance E range tires though.
235/80/16 is 3420 lbs ----- 13,680lbs
235/85/16 is 3640 lbs ----- 14,560lbs

Subtract the 15% to 20% pin weight from the GVW and thats going to cover a bunch of 5ers on the market. I'll definitely be giving them a look when I replace the Rainiers that came on our '19 310RE.

I'd be giving the Sailun a look 1st.

Given my past experience with China made ST tires, I'll always look
for US or CA made tire first. I know the Sailuns have a much better reputation but I have a hard time getting past my vast first hand experience.

I've had them blow on previous 5ers, travel trailers, equipment trailers and boat trailers. They were known as "China Bombs" for a reason.
I swore off any China made tire well over a decade ago. lol

I will take a look though for the sole reason that so many here have had excellent results from them.

You have overlooked the Endurance ST255/85R16 LRE. It has a maximum load capacity of 4080# @ 80 PSI. It's section width is 10.0" with diameter of 33.1" and fits on wheel/rims 6.5" - 8.0" wide with an "N" speed rating (87 MPH).

On edit: To be fair, it seems no tire manufacturer can build a unique tire without another manufacturer mimicking the original design. Greenball now provides that same tire with identical specs. I'm sure others will do the same.

The following is statistical information from "the book".

All Original Equipment RV Trailer tires MUST comply with NHTSA published minimum standards. Therefore, the trailer builder will select tires to provide a load capacity equal to or greater than the VEHICLE certified GAWRs depicted on the trailer's certification label. Those GAWRs may not match the axle manufacturers specs. That's because RV trailer builders get to set the trailer's GAWR values in order to accurately certify all weights at the time of first sale.

It's a violation of all tire industry's safety standards to use tires with less load capacity than the OE tires provide/provided.

Just info: The tire industry has put added emphasis on correctly identifying tire sizes. Especially in the first sentence. In other words; a tires official size is going to be described as its "Designated Size". This is an official designated size; ST225/75R15. As is LT245/75R16 or P245/75R17. Those without a prefix will normally be European from the ISO metric design.

I've mentioned the above because more and more often now days you're going to run into tire retailers that will not cross designated tire size lines without vehicle manufacturer approval. It's hard for an owner to argue the point because it's normally spelled out in your RV trailer's owner's manual. (Excerpt from Keystone owner's manual page #21; "To maintain tire safety, purchase new tires that are the same size as the vehicle’s original tires or another size recommended by the manufacturer").

Have not overlooked ~~ that same size from Sailun has a max load of 4400# at 110 psi.

Look closer, Sailun does not (yet) build that size.

Tires are identified by their DESIGNATED size. The GY Endurance I spoke of is ST255/85R16 LRE.

I run the 235/85R16 GY endurance on my 310RE HC have good luck so far, they roll down the road nice. Some people say they are to light for my camper but i weighed my rv on a CAT scale and the weght on the trailer axles is only 9900 lbs. When the camper isn't heavy enough to need the 14 ply saluns i don't think you should use them because at that ply rating and at 110 psi its just going to beat the trailer. For instance go from a 4 or 6 ply tire with 36 psi on your pickup to a 10 ply tire at 80 psi and see how hard it rides

When we bought our 2015 Montana used, it was a year old, I put Good Year Endurance tires on it. We have been over three thousand miles since then without any problems.

I understand the US made thing, but thats as far as it goes when discounting the Sailun tire, they are far from a China bomb. But what does come to mind is the Goodyear G614's they were quite the bomb. Although they have improved ,we still get to hear about their blowouts.

US made does not always mean better, more expensive ,yes .

We just looked at a 2019 JAYCO NORTH POINT 385THWS, comes standard with GY endurance tires, in fact I believe all new jaycos come with them. 14,800 dry, 19000 max. I had them on our Alfa toyhouse & will be putting them on the 381 soon, towed cross country in the heat of summer no issues, great tire with a really thick protective scuff guard to protect the bead. They have a max inflation of 80 psi so most stock rims are fine & with a lower psi should be easier on the trailer.

14,800 dry and LR E? That was close to the 15,200 gvwr of my last 5er. I pulled it 43 miles to have the LR F changed to Sailun LR G. My new Montana came with Sailun. I'm surprised at LR E is all.
