G614 Blowout this weekend

Just because the tires are newer, always be vigilant. Just after coming off the interstate Friday afternoon on our way to the campground the left front tire on the rig let go loudly. I had just checked the TPMS and all tires were within 3 PSI and 5* of each other and was in a right hand curve when the BOOM happened. I was only running about 45 when it blew and was able to get slowed down quickly but had to drive another 3/4 of a mile to get it off the two lane road. There was a Georgia State Trooper behind me when it blew and he turned his lights on to warn people coming behind us that we were slow moving. When I was able to get it off the road, we talked and he said he didn't see anything fly up as in a road hazard, but anything is possible I guess. He stayed with me until my wife and son got there and I had called my partner and her husband who were waiting on us at the campground. so they all came and changed the tire as I'm still not ambulating that well from my last back injury. The TPMS immediately went off when the tire blew which drove my two Aussie/Heelers crazy. The temp of the tire was only 88* when it let go leading me to believe it was a road hazard, but no way of knowing. The date code shows it was made the 46th week of 2015. Goodyear is going to get a look at the tire, and hopefully can get it replaced this week if any one around has them. Note the size hole in the sidewall.

That looks like what happened to mine several years ago. It was an explosion just after we came off of the interstate. It tore a large section of out left rear quarter panel off. That's some scary stuff right there. I feel for you.

Similar story for us with G614 blow-out last April on north bound I-75 in south Georgia near Tipton. I put spare on and Janice called ahead for Goodyear/Tire Store for an appointment near our nights way-station. Next morning at 8am had a new one installed and will never know the reason it happened. Glad it all came to a safe end for us and you.

Whew, sounds like your damage was confined to the tire - very fortunate.

Sounds like the tire god's were on your side that day they can do a lot of damage in a short amount of time. I say a guy one time had a blow out and it took out the wast line, gas line and the side of his fifth wheel he was only doing about 45 to 50 I was right behind him and he slowed down quick to. so you guys we really lucky.
