Plumbing....

"In everything, give thanks...." I put a scrap of linoleum, cut to size, beneath the double sink. Drat, the edges curled. No matter.

A leak developed under the strainer drain, but because the linoleum was curled, it captured all the leaked water. It was easy to sop up the wet -- no wet floor or carpet. The 4" strainer drain turned out to be a problem to get to seal. I bought a new one and it, too, was difficult. Curses and tinfoil!!! Out it comes -- a new bead of plumbers putty and a refit effort.

But Behold!!! While down there under the sink, I discovered that the hot water line was also leaking, very slow drip. Whoever worked on it last cross-threaded it and thus a leak. A simple loosening and repositioning let the fitting and gasket meet and bingo, no leak. And, at last, the sink drain sealed.

Had I not had trouble with the sink drain, I would have missed the hot water leak, at least, for a while. So..... in everything give thanks, even for curled linoleum and troublesome plumbing...

Stiles, this Pollyanna loves your way of thinking! LOL I'm glad all turned out okay. We put linoleum in the bottom cupboards in our stick house, kitchen and bath, and the edges curled also.

Happy trails...................

Stiles, I always use silicone caulk under sink strainers and I got this advice from professional plumbers.

And that's why they say "The Lord works in mysterious ways" and "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it"! Ya just got to love it when a (his) plan comes together.

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

I'll bring mine out of storage next weekend and go through all the plumbing lines to make sure there are no loose fittings or leaks. I think I'll also put a thin line of caulking on the "tape" that covers the screws on the slide outs (the edge of the tape where it meets the rubber roof)

C'mon spring!
