Where to Tap Into 110
Has anyone put an outlet in the basement of their 3400? I want to put an outlet in but haven't found an easy place to find to tap into the power. Didn't really want to drop the basement panels. It's going into the shop in a week and if there isn't an easy way, might have them do it. After all, I replaced the fantastic vent, thermostat and the stereo. I figure they owe me alittle.

Ron; I put in a duplex with a switch(to run my 40 amp battery chgr.) in my basement on the front wall near the door. But you are right. you have to go down under.I followed the exhisting wires but had to unfasten one side of the vinyl base to bring it up to my circuit breakers to tap into a 20 amp breaker. this has been most useful, not only for the battery chgr.,but I have placed a small ceramic heater down there in the snowy trips. be sure to use at least 12 ga. wire if your going to tie into a 20 amp breaker.---Dave

I had mine done at the dealer before pick-up, they went straight up the inside of the wall where the washer water lines go up. They just drilled a hole along side the water lines and fished the line up to the panel, just above the closet.

I would think you could tie into the ground fault under the vanity in the bath.
Just drop the wire through the floor into the basement.
This should be a ground fault anyway because you can use it outside.
Just a thought.

I agree with awaywego, in fact I have the circuit all ready to install in the basement for the heat tape. I just haven't fished the wire up to the vanity. After reading Dave Anderson's post I think I will add a switch and another receptacle in the front compartment as I think our converter took a hit when we were in Tennessee in March (it's not charging)so for now we're carrying a battery charger!

My converter works at times and doesn't work at times. Must be a(nother) loose wire somewhere....

I looked under the vanity and didn't see a place to tap in. Also, the washer/dryer prep outlets had no screws to take them apart. Curious - they must not want us amateur electricians messing with things. If I want to add a new circuit, I guess I would need to take out the inverter, fish the line down and then pull the 12 ga. Romex that I have for this outlet. I just don't know if I'll have the time to do it. I will be taking it in for service next week anyway. See what I can accomplish this weekend.

I also tapped into the w/d receptacle in the closet. I put an outlet in the main storage compartment and one in the front compartment also.

If your unit is wired for the second a/c but you don't have one, you can use the 20 amp breaker set aside for another outlet.

I have done that also, I put another outlet under the stove since it is only 3' away from the panel. I use this circuit to run an electric heater or the toaster oven that rides inside the gas oven, no need to remove it, just plug it in.

I ran a 110 line down the inside closet wall where the washer/dryer outlets are, just behind the drain pipe. Also picked up a regualr 30 Amp circuit breaker and ran a 220 line into the basement and have since installed a Maytag residential compact stacked washer and dryer. Had to move the water lines into the basement but it works great. Wife, Connie, loves it.

Having gotten a line(I used the unused half of a 20 Amp breaker already in the box) into the basement, I also came up under the vanity with it and installed a double duplex on the side of the vanity cabinet for electric tooth brushes, razor, clocks and all the other junk we have in the bedroom.

I tapped into the recepticle attached to the vanity and brought the wire down the wall and into the basement. Attached new receptical to front wall close to door opening. Works great keep my drill recharger pluged in, use the drill to lower back legs, plug toaster into it, we always cook breakfast outside unless it to cold.

Well, our dealer did me a big favor. He installed an outlet in the basement and one in the front cargo area for the right price (free). They tapped into the washer/dryer prep, which is already ground faulted. Did a real professional job, too. Will be showing it off at the next rally.

My 110 line to my basement was accomplished without drilling holes in anything. I have a 3295RK. I removed the power box and pulled it out a few inches. I used heavy gauge wire and stuck the wire in the same hole that the shower drain comes out of that also leads to the back of the power box. I tapped into a 20 amp breaker and put a female plug on the end inside the basement. It requires about 3 feet of wire and a female plug. It was an easy installation and took about 20 minuets.
