Feet and Floor Vents

Got tired of stepping on screws and sharpe edges. These vents are available from Lowes. Home Depot doesn't carry them.

Good Job, Gruffy. Those are certainly attractive. With all the upgrades you do, very soon you will have to change your RV's name to Cambridge.

Doesn't it usually happen that just after you've done all the upgrades the itch to trade hits???

I looked at Mobile Suites and they're NICE. Next trade I'll look at them in comparison to the Cambridge.

Thanks for the info. Those are really classy looking. Think we might try to find the covers - I don't like stepping on those screws and sharp edges either.

Gruffy,
Thanks for sharing the info. we have been looking etc and planning on changing out the vents but...Anyway you provided the missing link so to say. Whats worst than us stepping on the OEM vents is having my Springer Spaniel step on them - not good for the paws.

We finally got to Lowe's and purchased the diffusers like the one in your picture, Gruffy. Sure does add another touch of class - and no more stepping on the other type and breaking them or getting an ouey from stepping on the screws. Thanks again for the info.

Those are NICE!! We were having a problem getting a good air balance between ther three vents in our 297RKS. We found a product at Wally World that seems to be helping. For about $2.50, you get a pair of magnetic grill covers (thin plastic, like some refrigerator magnets). They have little or no decorative qualities, but they do allow us to push warm air out of the kitchen and up to the bedroom. They also do a good job of keeping crud out of the vent. After Cheryl see's Gruffy's new vents, I bet we get a set sooner than later!

The only downside to covering vents is it forces more air into the tank spaces. There is no damper on that one from the factory. A summer winter control would be a nice touch.

Hmmmmmmmm......I wonder if shooting more hot air into the tank space will heat up my hot water faster? Hmmmmm....then again, will it also cook my black water?! I guess that's the gist of Yin and Yang....you gotta take the good with the bad!

I agree on the summer/winter controller. However, we realized that we would be losing a lot of the "custom" and "hi-tech" features when we purchased a budget/entry-level unit. Still...couldn't be happier! In our case, the vast majority of warm forced air goes into the rear kitchen. As it is a U-shaped kitchen, it is a marvelous example of poor engineeing. the only thing warm in the whole coach is the cabinet doors. By closing off only that vent, we've managed to get a very nice air balance throughout the rest of the coach.

Great job on the vents, Gruffy!

Guffy, I replaced one of my vents with the same but they will bend if you step on. I have since replaces with oak vents.

Tried the vents from home depot...tried oak,...tried plastic... when they fail they "snap" right under you. The Lowes vents lasted over a month now without a failure.

By the way Pete, your hot water tank is not in the tank spaces... it's probably under the counter wrapped in styrofoam. You wouldn't want any more heat around that sucker. The foam probably gasses just as it is.

Yeah, I know, but it's the only way I could get the joke to work! I'm still trying to work out the kinks in my stage material (long way to go) You are right, it gets plenty warm in that area, even without the help!

Before we got the covers, Cheryl and I started looking at the vents. We wondered if our box turtle would see them not as a source of warmth, but as a rectangular turtle restroom. In the end, this was probably as much the reason for the covers as was the redistribution of air. Sure do wish these things were a little more "decorative". But, beggars can't be choosers, and they do a great job.

By the way, campbud, if you find any that aren't the standard black/white, let me know. If they have them in a brown (matching the standard vents in the Mountaineer), I'd love to pick up another pair!
