MORE QUARTZSITE INFORMATION

All,

Here is some more information on Quartzsite and the rally. Everyone will also get a hard copy of this upon your arrival.

2013 QUARTZSITE RALLY INFORMATION

Take Nothing But Pictures, Waste Nothing But Time, Leave Nothing But Footprints

8TH ANNUAL CIRCLING OF THE MONTANA'S (A BRIEF HISTORY)

Welcome to the 8th annual rally of the Montana Owner's out here in the desert. The first gathering was just a small group of members getting together for the RV show in Quartzsite and was organized by Doug & Sharon Henry in 2006. That gathering consisted of 5 rigs (Doug & Sharon Henry, Michael Brown & Renee Traversino, Dick & Toni Whitfield, Dennis & Mary Kay Hill and Bob & Sharon Grissom). Renee's cousin joined the group a few days later and Doug also organized a day where other MOC members that were in the area could come over and visit.

The gathering soon became one of the annual rallies of the Montana Owner's Club and his grown in size every year since. Last year we had 69 rigs signed up to attend. This year it has grown again to 70. Each year we have first timers and repeat attendees. If this is the first time you have boondocked or been to Quartzsite, don't be bashful and if you need help ask. There is a lot of knowledge here not only about boondocking or dry camping, but about RVs and our Montana’s in general.

PLEASE WEAR YOUR NAME BADGES WHEN OUT AND ABOUT SO EVERYONE KNOWS WHO YOU ARE

POLICE, FIRE & MEDICAL

IN THE EVENT OF A LAW ENFORCEMENT, FIRE OR MEDICAL EMERGENCY, PLEASE CALL 911. For non-emergencies, please call La Paz County Sheriff’s Office at 1-800-293-2281.

La Paz Medical Services is located in Quartzsite. It is a Family Health Care Clinic, GPS address: 150 East Tyson Road, Quartzsite, AZ 85359, phone 928-927-8747. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 7:30 AM - 6 PM, Friday 8 AM - 5 PM.

The nearest hospitals are La Paz Regional Hospital in Parker, Arizona, GPS address: 1200 W. Mohave Road,
Parker, Arizona 85344, phone (928) 669-9201, and Palo Verde Hospital in Blythe, CA, GPS address: 250 North First Street, Blythe, CA, 92225, phone (760) 922-4115.

QUIET HOURS

For the purposes of this rally and our group, we will observe "Quiet Hours" between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. daily.

SPEED LIMIT IN THE CIRCLE

For the safety of all please limit your speed to less than 5 MPH when you are driving your vehicle through the circle and watch for people and pets.

WEATHER

The weather at this time of year is relatively mild with daytime temperatures hovering around 70 and nighttime temperatures dropping into the 50's-40's. We have been here when the wind will come up suddenly and unexpectedly so you are advised DO NOT TO LEAVE YOUR AWNING OUT IF YOU PLAN TO BE AWAY FROM YOUR RIG FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME.

FRESH WATER & PROPANE

The RV Pit-Stop is located approximately 8 miles from the Circle. From the circle, head west on Plomosa Rd, turn left (SOUTH) on AZ 95 and the Pit-Stop will be on your left at approximately 5.3 miles. Address for GPS is: 425 N. Central Blvd, Quartzsite, AZ. Propane can be obtained there and they have dump stations if you want to stop on your way out of town. Several of us have 40-gallon water bladders and 12-volt pumps. Anyone here is welcome to use them to get water. Cost of filling the bladder in Quartzsite is 5-cents per gallon ($2) for filtered water. If you need water feel free to borrow one of these. If you have water left over check with your neighbors to see if they need some.

TRASH DISPOSAL

Trash can be burned in the fire pit. Please no plastics, styrofoam or like materials. For trash that cannot be burned, there is dump located approximately 6 miles from the circle. From the circle, head west on Plomosa Rd, turn left (SOUTH) on AZ 95 and the dump will be on your right at approximately 3.5 miles. Hours of operation are Sunday - Wednesday 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Address for GPS is approximately: 42630 AZ 95, Quartzsite, AZ. Normally, whoever is going to make a dump run will park their truck in the middle of the circle and make a dump run for the entire group. Just bring your bagged trash over and place it in the truck.

WASTE WATER DISPOSAL

Last year we used R&B Septic Service and I have contacted Barry and he will be here again in 2013. His rate is $30.00 per rig (includes black and gray tanks). You can request them to come out to the circle by calling 208-680-1582. Last year we tagged the rigs to be pumped with a piece of surveyors tape on the ladders (available from your wagon masters). So if you see rigs with surveyors tape on them you know they are coming out to the circle. If you see them in the circle and need your tanks emptied, just let them know and they will come over to your rig. THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH.

PETS

BLM Regulations state that pets must be kept on a leash at all times. Keep an eye on your pets. Unattended and unwatched pets may fall prey to coyotes or other desert predators. You are responsible for clean-up and sanitary disposal of your pet's waste. Please, please, please if your pets do their business inside of the circle clean it up so no one has an unwelcomed surprise stuck to the bottom of their feet. PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED AT ANY OF THE FOOD EVENTS (HAPPY HOUR AND POTLUCK).

GENERATORS

QUIET generators are required for power and/or charging batteries. We have had issues with loud generators in the past so for the peace of all, please do not use a contractor type or any open frame generator. Unfortunately, when rigs are only 20 or so feet apart a loud generator really does become a noise issue for the neighbors and although this may not be a problem for you personally, I can assure you it will be for the fellow MOC Members that may be close to you. If you need to borrow a quiet generator to charge your batteries while there, let us know and we’ll do our best to help.

CHALK BOARD

There will be a chalkboard either on the back of the Wagonmaster’s rig or at the tent center circle for listing events. Feel free to add items or events to it.

GAS STATIONS

There are plenty of gas stations that sell gasoline and diesel in Quartzsite. There are also gas stations approximately 30 to the NW in the town of Parker.

GROCERY SHOPPING

There is limited grocery shopping in the town of Quartzsite. There is a market, some produce stands and convenience stores. If you want a full blown market there is a Super Wal-Mart, GPS address: 100 Riverside Drive, Parker, AZ 85344, phone (928) 669-2161, and Safeway, GPS address: 121 W. Riverside Dr., Parker, AZ 85344, phone (928) 669-2243, in the town of Parker which is approximately 30 miles NW of the circle.

LAUNDRY

The nearest laundromat is Main Street Laundromat & Showers, GPS address: 205 E Maple Ct, Quartzsite, AZ 85359, phone (928) 308-0011. There is also Kofa Laundromat in Parker, GPS address: 730 Kofa Ave. Parker, AZ, phone (503) 975-8169. The Kofa Laundromat offers free WiFi.

RV SHOW

The RV show starts in Quartzsite on the 19th and runs until the following Sunday the 27th. Admission is FREE! There are also several vendors with a flea market type atmosphere. If you want it, you can probably find it there.

CASINO

The closest Casino is the Blue Water Resort & Casino located NW in Parker. GPS address: 11300 Resort Drive,
Parker, AZ 85344, phone (888) 243-3360 or (928) 669-7777.

MEXICO

The border town of Algadones Mexico is located approximately 100 miles south in the Yuma area. Bargains can be found on prescription and non-prescription medications, dentistry, eye glasses, stained glass windows etc. There are several street vendors and artists who will custom paint just about anything from mailboxes to satellite dishes. PASSPORTS ARE REQUIRED FOR RE-ENTRY INTO THE U.S.
