SnoBird Alert

A close friend, still with the Florida Highway Patrol near Lake City Florida called to notify me that the first SnoBird alert was issued to the FHP. What that generally means is to be mindful of the migration South on I-75 and I-95 primarily; to provide assistance where needed to RV and other breakdowns and to assure that traffic is moving orderly southward.

We too will head home to Clermont soon and a part of the migration back to our home state.

Know ye, all migrating SnoBirds whether from Florida or not that we have MOC gatherings throughout the winter months and know well that you must attend whether you have company or not. Watch this thread for upcoming SnoBird lunches, foolishness and just plain Hello's...and moving the Monty is optional!!! Be safe on your journeys southward, expecially to Florida, the land of the free and crazy drivers!! We wish everyone a healthy upcoming season of warmth!!

We are heading southward in just 13 days, however, on the TV last evening it looks as though we stayed too long "up here". The weatherman said to not be too surprised if there is some "white stuff" in the air on Saturday. Getting down to 33 overnight. Two years ago we stayed north until the 20th of December and five days before we left Mother Nature dumped 6 inches of the white stuff. Last year we decided not to see any of that kind of stuff and headed south earlier and missed it all. I guess Mother heard about that and decided to make sure we got a chance to experience what you "Up North People" get to experience all winter. Rats!!!! Guess it proves that you are not supposed to "fool with Mother Nature!"

We've been on the way since the rally... We just drive slow. Should make it as far as Myrtle Beach today and get to Florida by the 1st of November... We could even be up for a November lunch if anyone else is.

Hey Dennis!!

We are in Homosassa Florida right now enjoying the really warm temperatures. We have been here since last Thursday packing up Mom and Dad for the move north. We will be leaving for Pennsylvania tomorrow and will be returning for a short stay on November 7th.

Maybe we'll get to see you then. Keep in touch.

We're leaving for Florida on the 17th...taking our time. We have reservations in Bradenton, FL for the month of Nov., and Sebring, FL for December. After that...??? This will be our first winter out of the snow!!! We're both retired now, have sold our house and we are now official fulltimers!

Looking forward to meeting up with you all for a get-together.

How about coming North a bit to The Villages? I could try to get the Perkins right on Hwy 27th for the 17th or 18th if anyone wants and it is a fun place to visit after lunch. Let me know what you think.

It sounds doable Helen. I had indicated Nov 11/12 because John and Judy (bullroc3) are in Orlando thru the 13/14 of Nov. Just a consideration. I'm sure alot would like the Villages area and know where Perkins is on Hwy 27 as well. Nice area too!

11th or 12th works good also Dennis.. I'll wait a couple more days to see who else is interested before I try call Perkins.. If there are only a few of us we could meet at Sumter Landing or the Spanish square instead of Perkins but if we have more than eight Perkins would work best as they have small meeting rooms.

Anyone interested, please let us know soon.

Helen
