Good Sam raises rates 25%!

To all,
I live in California and have a 2017 Montana High Country. Zero claims on any RV EVER! National General / Good Sam insurance just raised my rates 25%. When I asked them why I got a load of BS. Please watch your renewals!

Ouch! Hope that is not just a CA thing. Time to shop around. AAA has been good to us.

This is why we all need to be ready to look at other policies.

Same in Texas, for me anyway.

Mine jumped at least 50%, they said due to regional insurance losses due to hurricanes. Right! Shopping around.

First year for all insurance companies is a teaser rate - then the rate goes up.

I use AMICA for all my insurance - home, car and RV. The home and car have gone up a bit over the past few years but the RV hasn't moved much if any. I have had only one claim in - well forever (since age 18 ) so that may be some bearing on my rates too. Regardless they are still high but a fact of life. That one claim was for an awning on the last 5er that failed during a frog strangler very local rain storm on the Maine Coast in 2013

I was going to use GS until I saw the big increase from 2018 to 2019. Figured if they were going to raise large amount each year I was better off buying a 4yr policy instead. Checked prices and got a good deal from my dealer that I bought my trailer from. Will use their service to fix my furnace when I return home from Arizona.

We have Good Sam (who networks for National General ins). When we're not traveling, we can shut insurance down temporarily. Due to medical problems the 5er & insurance have been idle since June, last year. Anyone have suggestions on a RV insurance that can be temporarily turned off like National General?
