Rig hibernating
I just finished winterizing and covering the rig. I used the method we used to shrink wrap pontoons. I used 3 saw horse frames, 2 24 inches tall and one 18 inches tall. Between those I laid one 2x6x16 and one 2x6x20. The tarp went over it all and got tied down and weighted down with almost full milk jugs held to the tarp with bungee balls. This system leaves an A-frame peak on the top of the rig so it sheds snow instead of having it build up on top. I did find an issue with the twin 6 volt Trojans though. I placed them in a Blue Sea battery box when I installed them. Since then Lippert did some work on the pump and relocated the shelf which made it impossible to remove the batteries. I had to unbolt the battery box and rip the drain off the bottom while lifting the front battery. Needless to say both my buddy and I have sore backs tonight. The batteries and box will be relocated in the spring so as to ease the back damage during servicing. I have a dozen snap traps in various spots inside the rig to keep the critters at bay. There are several in the basement also. I will have to repaint the floor of the front compartment as there was some corrosion from the battery box leaking. Now I can go have a toddy and relax till spring..

So it sounds like you are not heading South or West this winter. Going to hunker down and brave the winter snow and winds. Take care and hope all goes well and you get the S&B sold.

Have a great winter! We went south instead of west this year, but we'll be back out west again next year. Hope to see you next year.

We winterize by spending the winter in Florida. You certainly have your rig protected well!

Still seems so strange to me what you folks go through every year. Not saying it's bad just so different from my life spent entirely on the west coast.

From Kansas, it's 2 days to TX, and 3 to FL or AZ, without pushing it too much. Well worth the few days to get out of the winter of the Midwest.

Re the milk jugs. I winterized using them on a boat a few years ago. When I went to check on them and the boat, I discovers the milk jugs had all frozen, expanded, broken the milk jugs, and when thawed out, all the ice/water was gone and my milk jugs were blowing in the wind.

I only fill them about 3/4 full so they have room to expand. Besides I can see the rig when ever I look out the back window..
