Mirror on cap

We have a 2019 3121RL Montana. We have had the mirror on the cap replaced twice since it turns black. I decided to remove it and not replace it again. No problems removing and the finish on the RV looks good; however, I am having difficulty getting all of the adhesive removed. Goo Gone did not work. Has anyone else tried to remove the mirror and adhesive? Any suggestions for getting the glue/silicone/adhesive off?

Goof off will take it off, but you need to be careful as it will remove the paint if you soak or work one area too long.

WD-40 is as good or better than anything on the market and also helps with those sore joints.

If goof off removed your paint there is issues with that coating. I have used acetone and lacquer thinner to remove overspray from cars (****** employees) and with that stuff if you leave it in one spot it will do damage. I have never had any type of damage from goof off.... that's my experience over 20 years in the trade but what do I know lol

Sorry my bad jet skier, I got goof off and goo gone confused. yeah goof off will ruin clear coat you would need to be very quick using that product. Goof off on the other hand is safe, no where near as hot..

Replaced my mirror...….original turned black in spots. Keystone said they had a bad bunch from their supplier and they turned black after a few months. New one has been on now for 6 months with no problems.....with rain/snow/freezing temps and hot sun.....

I removed the mirror on my 3120, today. Removed all of the adhesive with gasoline without damaging the finish at all.
The rig looks much better without the useless, black mirrored patch.

Our 2012 Montana has one of those mirrors, looks as good as when new. Never even think to look at it, as I can see the top of the hitch as I back into the pin box, so the mirror does nothing for me, but it looks good

Our '10 has one that is next to useless. Don't even look at it, but it hasn't turned black.

I also have a keystone Montana and have the same problem ! I have not taken it off yet.
Take W D 40 spray on a nice white clean towel
And rub do not be afraid of soaking the towel with it as it will not hurt the Paint it should come off with a little elbo freeze ,. Hope this helps let me know how you make out.

3M makes an adhesive remover that will take off the glue. I buy it in automotive stores. It comes in a spray can or as a liquid.
I have the same problem with my mirror. It is foggy and useless.

My second one on the 2018.5 is going bad too so I'll just remove it. Worthless anyway!

My question is why even try removing it. It is what it is, with it off it'll look odd.

Our 2010 3000RK mirror is just like new. I don't use the mirror, never have. Just watch the center of the hitch when backing up and adjust steering left or right for alignment. Works for me.

I took mine off because it was all black, masked it off painted it with mirror paint and clear coated. used black pinstripe around the edges to finish it off, looks good and don't have to worry about it turning black again. I did get a replacement mirror I'm saving for when I sell or trade it in...
