San Juan National Forest/Mesa Verde, CO areas

We are preparing to head out (9/8,9) on our first lengthy voyage. Would like to hear about suggested areas to hookup in the subject areas. Particularly looking for beautiful, cool locations to just sit and enjoy the view. Thanks for anyone's input.

Try Five Branches Camper Park on Vallecito Lake @ Pine River.
Great people, good camp. Listed under Bayfield, CO in TL Directory.

We were there in 03, will go back when we do CO again.

Have fun and stay safe!

Adagolfer,
Last year we stayed in the town of Cortez, CO. A really nice little CG right in town. It has a lot of big trees so there is a lot of shade. I believe the name is Sundowner but I'm not sure.

Also there is at least one CG right in the Mesa Verde NP. Be advised that to get to the CG there is a VERY steep grade or two. But it is right at the center of things in the park.
