Recliner Chairs--'05 3475RL/DVD Cabinet

Hi all--This is my first message, although I have been reading the forum for two months. We recently traded in our 32' Alpenlite 2000, and purchased our first '05 3475RL Montana and found 10 or so problems to be corrected. Two of these I haven't seen a post on them yet. I put a DVD in a cardboard mailer inside the cabinet with the DVD player up against the wall and the shelf was short which left a 3/8" space along the wall not visible because of the height of that cabinet. I heard it fall and hit the top of the fireplace! We are being charged $93 for labor to pull the fireplace and retreive the DVD and put it back in place. We felt it was a fire hazard and couldn't leave it there. The dealer doesn't feel it should be a warranty problem and our new extended warranty won't pay either--we hadn't even slept one night in it yet--they did silicone the space to seal it up. Anyone else have this problem? Also having problems with one of the recliners leaning to one side and has missing welded round feet on the circle underneath. We'd have to take pictures and send it to them and suggested we call Keystone and then see if they'd replace it. It was on the original list of things to fix with upholstery not finished on bottom edge. First night in it. Said many of them seem to have lean to one side! We are now 200 miles home from the dealer. They did do a good job fixing other problems. Again, anyone else have a recliner problem? Enjoy all the forum--super job. I have a notebook full of valuable information now. I know we'll love our Montana when we can get away from the ranch and can use it more.

We had a problem with the base ring on one of our recliners. The chair appeared to have been dropped at some point - bending the ring and knocking one or more of the plastic "feet" off of it. Our dealer is taking care of it under warranty - the new base is on order. I believe that at least one other post mentioned a similar problem in the past six months.

Welcome to the MOC. Glad you are posting. As to the recliner, I sounds like a definite flaw in manufacturing. You should have no trouble getting Keystone to replace it.

In my opinion, your dealer probably has no obligation based on my understanding of the DVD incident. However, as a courtesy to a new owner, if it were my dealership, I would just fetch the DVD, tack it down and send you on your way with a smile. But what do I know about public relations.

Welcome to the MOC.Sorry to hear about your problems, but on the good side just remember when all is said and done, you will always find something else going wrong. It is just part of the RV life. Remember your stick house doesn't go without repair either. All that said I think that Stiles has the right idea. And Stiles, you probably do know more about customer relations then the dealership. That is obvious because the charged djdecock for retrieving the DVD. I would do the same thing that you suggested and that would be to just fix the problem and send them on their way. Well what do we know huh Stiles, we are only the little man on the totum pole.
Well congrats on your new purchase and happy camping....

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the new Montana. The DVD retrieval would have been a good thing to do for $0 for good customer relations, but not all dealers would see it that way. You will have many miles of enjoyment with your Montana - safe travels.

We had some issues with the foot rest on one of our recliners leaning to the left. The dealer called the furniture maufacturer and they sent a new frame. I took the chair in and they repaired while I waited. BTW This was the only warranty issue we had with our coach.
