Jack, the 7.3 does not have the new TorqShift automatic nor the variable vane geometry in the turbo. I have no first hand experience with towing with the 7.3 but there are a lot of those in MOC who do and maybe can jump in. My understanding is that with anything other than the new Ford TorqShift and the Allison in the GM's that an exhaust brake is a good idea if you're towing significant weight on a significant downgrade. Maybe someone with firsthand experience can help answer this one.

Jack

We live in the Canadian Rocky Mountains in British Columbia. It seems like we are always climbing and going down some steep grades. The North Cascades Highway 20 in WA. State has some steep drops. I wouldn't think of pulling a 5er with my 7.3 without our BD Exhaust Brake. Havn't put a set of discs on the front yet with 50,000 miles because of it. It worth the money and your peace of mind.
