We can't hear it enough!
I hope I don't bore anyone because I know this has come up many times, but feel that I must report this.
My son came by this morning to torque the U-bolts on our Monty that has only been towed about 3,000 miles and ALL of them were loose!
Check those U-bolts! Ok, I'm done.

Came as a shock to me that mine were loose right from the factory.

Dick, When I took our previous Monty (2008 3400 bought new) in for wet bolts after about 2,000 miles ALL U-bolt nuts could be removed by hand, no wrench necessary.

We're about to leave on our annual pilgrimage south to avoid the ravages of winter and I'd missed that important item. Many thanks for the reminder!

No picture - sorry - but if you get on the ground and look behind your wheels, you will see the axle tubes and springs. The U-bolts are what holds the two together, and the nuts for them is what the fuss is about. When you see the U-bolts, you'll recognize them because they are shaped in a large "U". They are not hard to tighten up, but you should use a torque wrench to make sure you tighten them to the proper specs, and to make sure they are all the same.

Torque? Isn't that something you wear on your head in winter? Oh wait, that's toque. Close!
So what is the "torque" on the shackle nuts? I can't see any reference to that detail in my "owners manual".

I believe wet bolts are shackles that take the place of the OEM type, but they have grease fitings which allows one to keep them "wet" or greased.

Bob,
If you google "RV wet bolts" you will see pictures of what they are. The bolts have grease fittings in them.
