Broken screen door hinge

Has anyone had a hinge break on your screen door?

We did and Keystones answer is to replace the complete

door. All of it screen door and outside door for around $800.00.

Can't believe you can't get a replacement hinge.

That is just crazy.

My thoughts would be to identify the screen door manufacturer. Hopefully there is some indication on the door itself. If you can find the manufacturer, contact them directly. If that fails, I would think they could be easily fabricated for a lot less than $800 if you can find a metal shop that has the capability of working with aluminum.

Agree, find a good welder who can work with aluminum. Keystone's answer to a broken window is to replace the entire frame, another wrong solution.

We have thought about fabricating one, and may end up doing that.
Not sure on welding. It broke in the bend next to the screen door itsself. Intend on looking for manufacture of door.
Thanks for the ideas.

Does your Montana have the button in the door frame that turns on the lights when the entry door is opened and closed?

I was wondering if that might have been interfering with the door. We have that in our 2011 Big Sky and feel that it interferes with our door.

Ken,

I had same problem, one Grand-Kids fell into it an broke the bottom hinge. I don't have a picture of just the hinge, but I cropped a the hinge from bigger picture.

I took the heaviest piece of aluminum I had, and bent to fit. I then pop riveted it to the broken hinge and the screen door. That is about 1 year ago, and it is holding so far.

The Montana is parked about 20 minutes from the house, if you need a picture, PM me and I will try to get over there this weekend.

Yes we have the light switch at the door but it does not bother the door. Sometimes it sticks but we just spray it with a graphite spay.
We had a lady slip on the sucide step inside the door.

thanks

Ken,

Went out to the Montana today to open the slides, put clean towels in, and run the AC for a little bit off the inverter. I took a close up of the broken hinge.

No clearance problems, used pop-rivets. One of these days I will paint white.
