Towing US 1 in Maine (?)

Has anyone towed US 1 on the coast of Maine. It looks interesting but I have no idea as to the feasibility of towing a trailer.

All input is appreciated.

Towing a trailer is no problem on the entire length. However, traffic can be miserable in parts of it. It is better to pick where you want to go and then take other routes. We like Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta, Rockland and Acadia National Park. Camden and Bar Harbor are OK but pretty standard tourist traps. From Ellsworth to Fort Kent, Route 1 is a nice ride.

Agree with above...during the tourist season, the roads can be difficult enough just driving w/o a tow-behind...add the Montana and it can be a nightmare (not to mention the horrible fuel consumption you will record). Travel I95 North/South and pick your destinations along the way...the way to go. Once your Montana is safely settled on your camp site, you can head out and enjoy the sites along route 1. That's what we do.

Thanks folks! We will travel to Bangor and then drop down to Sullivan and finish going to NB on US 1 from there.

The more direct route from Bangor to NB is route 9. If you are going to go to Sullivan; definitely take some time to visit Acadia National Park.

Pretty much every road in Maine and New Brunswick is a series of short steep hills that you go up then down over and over again. However, we haven't found one yet that wasn't easily doable pulling our trailer.

A suggestion for an RV Park in Bangor area is Pumpkin Patch RV Resort. It is the nicest and quietest RV Park we have been in all year (and we fulltime). They give Passport America, Escapees and Good Sam discount and they let you use them in combinations. We are planning to stop there again when we go back across the border next week.
