Vogel State Park, GA
We are going to try beat the Florida heat next month, and spend a couple of weeks at Vogel State Park in the north Georgia mountains. The park web site said we are good to go with our 38 ft Big Sky, but I have heard elsewhere that I may have trouble getting in to sites. Last time I camped there was in a tent with my Scout troop. Anyone have any knowledge about this place?

It's been a few years, but I've been there and I think you'll be fine. There are some tight turns, but the campsites are of pretty good size. Besides, it's such a pretty area! Have a great time!

Thanks to both for the replies! I always worry about tight back ins. I know the area is beautifull, having spent a lot of time in that neck of the woods. Not a fan of Helen, though. Last time we were there it was just too gimmicky. After having been to Germany twice it just does not compare. However, there a good number of little Georgia mountain towns that suit us just fine!

You will be fine getting in and out of Vogel. It is a beautiful state park, I suggest going down to Dahlonega and checking out Yahoola Creek restaurant just south of Dahlonega. Great place.
Have a great trip, It was 63 degrees up here last night. Record low for this time of the year.

63 at night...God, we have not seen that here in Tampa for a coon's age! It has still been lows around 80! I agree, lots to see in the area. We actually own a lot in Hayesville, NC, just to the north of Vogel area, and we have a lot of favorite haunts, restaurants, and places to chill all over that area, but never saw Yahoola Creek. We'll check it out!
