Installed a new floor!

Thanks to "fulltimedreamer" and his link at http://www.geocities.com/fulltimedre...4/lam_flr.html
We ripped out our old hard to keep clean carpet in the living/dining room and replaced it with wood laminate flooring. It came out very nice, and really brightens up the place.

Steve,
The new floor looks great. The laminate floor is so much easier to care for. We're in Pigeon Forge, TN for the next couple of weeks and with the grandkids coming this weekend the laminate floor will get a workout. LOL I had to get my MOC fix so I'm at the local library.

Steve

Did you glue it down or it just free floating and what about movement if it's free floating?

It looks terrific! We'd love to do the same thing, but were concerned the slide "dragging" across the floor might mark it.
Is it freefloating or glued down (especially at the slide edge)?

The flooring fits nicely into the same groove that the carpet used under my big dining room slide. I am assuming that the slide will not scratch the laminate, since it would have cut the carpet. The kitchen already had laminate flooring (which I replaced so it would all be the same) and the kitchen slide did not scratch it. The flooring manufacturer recommends that the floor just "float" and that a 1/4" gap be left around the edges to allow for expansion. This gap is covered by 1/4 round molding fastened to the wall. I made a cover for the water pump and fill hose out of the same flooring. www.conestogalife.com/corner.jpg I also removed the carpet from the entry way and put the flooring there. www.conestogalife.com/steps.jpg

Beautiful job, Steve and Ellie! We had laminate in our stick home and this Montana came from the factory with laminate on the kitchen floor. It has worn well.
