Closet pole replacement
3685fl has a rear closet with a very light duty closet rod. Anything stored in there is like being on the end of a diving board.
Has anyone had this problem with the closet pole?
This is my fit:
Painted 1”X6” glued & screwed to paneling
6” plastic disk
Steel brackets fastened with 1 ¼” screws
Steel shelf brackets and center rod support
Steel rod (you can do chin-ups on this one)

Of course ..Common in most if not all Rv's with the pole. Cheap, Cheap...we did what you did in out last 3 TT's and will do the same in the 3400 before we ever hang anything in the closet. Just one of those things...

Bighorn mine did same thing on third trip out, had to go to Lowe's get wooden dowel for closet and ends along with some 1x2 stripping to and strength to what I was screwing into. Yours looks lot better than mine but ours did same thing in about the same spot, and all the clothes were in closet floor.

Gosh, I had to run back and check mine and it apears to be the same it has two braces hanging from the bottom of the shelf. We have been from Nevada to Mississippi back to Nevada, from Nevada to Texas from Texas to Florida back to Texas all on I10,I20 and I40 and none of them have been a smooth ride.LOL. I have the rod loaded all the way across. Hmmmm!!! I will have to watch out for this. Thanks for the heads up.

Nice fix! Ours broke, too, and had to be replaced. Thought at first it was a message from my shopping karma to slow down!

very common. the rear closet gets alot more "bounce" and the cheap rod can't handle the weight. our washer/dryer has broke loose 3 times and was finally REALLY secured.

I must be one of the luckier MOCers. There are any number of problems others have had with their rigs and I have not and the closet pole is another example. As full timers we have been dragging our rig around for 2 1/2 years without a problem and our closet pole is plumb full of clothes on hangers. At 320 plus pounds my clothes weigh a bit more than the average and the pole isn't even sagging much less bending.
But if it ever does go I will definitely keep this thread in mind.

Ditto Glenn, and we had a few other "troubles". But so far, knock on wood NOT this one. Said that about the little end caps on the shades too, almost 3 years, never a problem, so, guess what happened the other morning. Yepper, one popped off. I caught it before it all came apart and started sliding and all that stuff. Stuck back on, later in the day, hot glue gun was a working on another project, so, a little dab will do you, and hopefully that is the end of that story! [:d]
