Music Festivals
I have some friends that go to music festivals around Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas. There is usually featured bands or groups playing but in the afternoons and evenings people sit around the camp sites with their instruments and pick and grin.
Any Monty users out there that go to music festivals?

Has anyone camped in North Arkansas lately? Several of my friends have stayed near Mountain View and said the locals meet around the square in the evenings and pick and sing. I know they have bluegrass festivals there now and then. Should be a cooler area to camp in than our 100 degree heat in Texas.

Danny, excuse me for piggybacking on your excellent query, but I can't resist telling you that we come through Gainesville sereral times a year on our way to Colorado. We come up to Paris, Texas and across US82 to join up with US 287 near Witchita Falls.
Of yes, we do know of the bluegrass festival at Grapeland, Texas--plenty of room for RVs. We have attended once, but never with our RV. We lived nearby at that time--in Palestine. [In fact, we bought our pickup in Grapeland.]

There is an excellent upcoming four day Bluegrass Festival at Waldron, Ak. the first week of October that we plan to attend that will feature some first rate performers such as Rhonda Vincent. There will be lots of "pickin" going on around different campsites during the days and nights leading up to the time that the shows start on Wednesday night. We will go in on Sunday and stay the full week. I posted on this a while back but will again give the link for the Turkey Track website.

Closer to where we live is another at Bellville, Tx. held in late October, not as big as Turkey Track but growing every year.

I have to put in a plug for the beautiful Britt Festival here in our little town of Jacksonville, Oregon (population otherwise about 2100). http://www.brittfest.org/
It is a very beautiful hillside location overlooking the valley where there are deer in the yards and streets around the park. It runs from June through September.

Fire on the Strings Bluegrass Festival at the Havens' Landing RV Park in Conroe, TX. Great park, modest sized festival but with very good musicians (and growing every year). Around May or early June, if I remember correctly.

We've been to Mt. View many times. They have things going on there all summer long, including the open jam sessions on the courthouse square and the Ozark Folk Center. Lots of RV parks and good fishing also. There is a dulcimer festival, The Sawdust Festival, 30 Sept to 3 Oct in Bennington, OK.

Thanks to all the great RVers for the information. I have received several schedules of events from you.
I'm not a great picker but strum enough to entertain myself. I have several friends that get together a couple of times a month and jam. We will be camping at Lake Ray Roberts November 12-19th and expect to have alot of fun.
