Installation of protective tarp over my RV

I just purchased a cover for my new 2005 2955RL from Camping World. I am open to suggestions on how to tarp my rig. I was told at Camping World to hoist it up the rear ladder and open it on top. This isn't going to happen with my light weight body. I don't believe there are any eyelits on the tarp. This looks like a two person job. Maybe my wife on one side and myself on the other with some type of extension pole to lift tarp and walk it from the front to the rear. Any suggestions will be appreciated

Welcome to the forum!!

Suggest a read by trying the search engine here on the top of the page, I think you will find that most of us will tell you to take the tarp back and get your $$ back from Camping World!

These rigs are made to sit out in the weather, year round, and our full timers will tell you they are not covering theirs!

Also, some people have experienced deterioration of the finish at corners and anyplace that tarp will rub against the rig, specially due to wind, etc.

I agree with Carol I tried that with a Motor Home & it was the pits never again.

23 rigs in the same little storage lot as our Monty--most more expensive--and not a tarp in sight. We're talking upstate NY with lots of wind and snow. Guess that works out to 23 votes for no tarp. That said, we admit that we thought we should have one until we read the opinions here. Keep in mind though that they are just opinions and at the end of the day you still must do what you think best. Welcome aboard--looking forward to hearing about your adventures.

I have to park the RV under and close to trees. Pitch needles etc can cause a lot more damage than weather. I have a cover. Works great. Use a soft rope to pull cover up over the front. Be sure to lay it out first and find the front, back, and top. Can usually do this with only two trips up and down the ladder. Be sure to use the under bellie ties so the wind will not flap the side.

I have a 2955, and have the Adco cover from Camping World also. Have had it on all winter, and the rig looks great when I take it off. Have no problems with it harming rig. I think it was a good investment.

It is easy to put on and take off. Before you put on, I cut some pipe insulation into 5" lengths and cover rain down spouts as they will tear cover. There are 4 on 1 side and 2 on the entrance door side.

Take cover out of box, I did mine on my drive way, and unroll and find the front. It is labeled. Unfold the cover and then fold the sides onto the center section so that it is inside/out. Make sure the sides are laying on the middle section. Then roll the cover up from the back to the front into a "ball". I then take mine to the back of rig and pull the front of the cover up as I climb ladder, then pull rest up after I get on top. Then take front of cover to front of rig, throw over and hook around the front. You then just walk back and throw over the sides, put the ladder cover on as you climb down, and climb down while bringing cover over rear. Hook buckels and you are finished.

To take off, unhook and pull sides up as you get on top, fold onto center as you did on driveway, roll up from back to front, and throw off. It is then ready to put back on again.

I know this sounds hard, but after the first time, it now takes me about 20 or so minutes to put cover on or take off.
