Static cling sheets

I just got back from a wonderful week at Assateque Island, but the front of my trailer and my truck looked like I hit every bug in the entire east coast. I read somewhere on MOC about using fabric softener sheets for easy bug removal, so I laughed and said lets try it out. Well I tell you this, it really works well, the combo of a good warm pail of water with lots of soap, and some elbow grease really resulted in and excellent end product, on camper and truck grill. As usaul the MOC members know there @#i@.. Thanks for the bugtacular advice. TNT

I use the fabric softener sheets constantly on the Monte and the TV. You can use both the new or used ones and they work great and you'll find out they even make it easier to take the bugs off the next time you wash the unit and truck too. Just makes the bugs slide off!

I remember reading this years ago, and was wondering if anyone had heard of it or tried it. The trick was to spray non-stick cooking spray on the front of your trailer if you were expecting a lot of bugs on a long trip. Then a simple wipe down took all the little buggers right off. Not sure about the effect of the spray on the fiberglass, but it sounds like it would work.

There is an aviation product called Rejex that is polymer designed for the leading edge of airplane wings, landing gear, nose bowl etc that tend to pick up bugs at a much greater speed of impact than our Montys (120 - 200mph compared to 60 mph). It works great on the plane, I have not tried washing bugs off the coach since I applied it so can't report on how it works on the 5er.

This is what I found to work really well. Simply spray on, wait and wipe. Dissolves the little dead buggers.

But Mike your front cap has holes all over it now! When the bug hit it they go right on through and collect on the back of the closet! Just kidding, I'll have to check this stuff out and see if it does a better job than the fabric softener sheets! Maybe I'll use the sheets on half and the other stuff on the other half and do a comparison! So if you see a Montana coming down the road with bugs on only half of the front cap, just stop me and ask which side is which!

Re: Bug Blaster I just read a report from a pilot who flew from Florida (Sun n Fun fly in) back to the north east. He purchase Bug Blaster at the fly in and tried it once he got home. He reported that it worked as advertised and made cleaning the bugs off a breeze. If it worked on his plane, it will surely work on our Montys.

I started using an old pair of the DW's nylons. Wad them up in a ball and use with soap and water (or your favorite additive).

On my Motorcycle windshield I use Hydrogen Peroxide in a spray bottle diluted with water. What it does is almost disolves the little critters and then you wipe them off. You don't need a lot of elbow grease either. If the Hydrogen Peroxide is safe on my windsheild, I do not see it affecting the clearcoat on the RV.

I have used a product for over 30 years that you can get from Advance Auto that you spray on weight till it is almost dry wipe off, repeat hose off, done. It is called Purple Power and cost about $10 per gallon. You mix with 50% water. It cleans wheels as good as any wheel cleaner I ever bought, and has never harmed any surface I have ever put it on.

Be careful with any products that contain silicone or petrolium. They can possibly have an effect on the decal glue.
