Angry Jensen 5015 TV

We just purchased a 2019 Montana 3790RD. We have found that the tv in the living room, Jensen 5015, has speakers on the back side and they point down into the cabinet that stores the tv while traveling.
It is difficult to hear and have turned the sound up to 100 and not very loud.
Why would Keystone put a tv that has speakers on the bottom in a cabinet situation. Would love to connect it to the radio speakers, but don't know how to do it.
Has anyone else had this problem and any resolve?

Thanks

That's what I thought, but I must be missing something. The radio is using the surround sound speakers but I don't know how to check the tv for surround sound in the coach. Of course no manual and the online manual only talks about the tv.

I though the surround mode was on the radio on are's you can switch from inside to outside and surround. have you looked up the radio on line.

In my other unit I had a Jenson TV and I think I had to go into the TV menu and switch it to external speakers and then turn my surround to Aux.
Give that a try.
The sound was ok but not great. I ended up buying a small sound bar and using that instead. My RV I got now already came with a sound bar.
Good Luck

I cannot make my vision soundbar work no matter the inputs I use. I even tried the headphone input. We're there specific settings on the TV menu you used? I tried calling technical support and they were useless

Hello Everyone

I have a 2019 3121RL with the same issues with sound. The TV looks great in the cabinet, however you loose all the sound in the back. (Very poor planning) The radio/CD/DVD system and speakers Montana uses are junk. Very disappointed with the poor quality. My solution was to install a VIZO 2.1 sound bar. (Walmart $98) I used the optic output from the TV to the sound bar. I turn down the volume on the TV and use the sound bar volume. Works great and the sound is now outstanding.

Hope this helps
Good luck

ArkansasNWA...Thanks for explaining your fix. I am planning to get a sound bar but unsure which is the optic output on the back. If you have a chance to snap a photo of that port on your tv, I would love to see that. Thanks.

Optic input

Here are pics of an optic cable and an optic input on a TV (pic from web search not the TV in my Monte). I use a Bose solo sound bar sitting behind the TV and hooked up thru the optic input ( + I think I turned the TV speakers off thru the TV menu setup somewhere). Got the Bose at Sams for about $200 to use in my previous RV and moved it to the Monte.

Also my DVD player doesn't work like it wasn't hooked up to the TV. There is no input like a secondary HDMI source to select

I have the same TV.
You need 1/8 stereo mini to double RCA cable
Plug the mini into headphone out on the back of your TV and the RCA's in the back of your stereo rear Auxiliary.

Hi Donmar how did you get to the back of the radio? The cabinet around ours is stapled. The HDMI ARC cable is going to the back of the radio but it is not showing up as an option in the AUX options on the radio.

Hi JMGray... supposedly a new radio, new speakers and cable installed last August. Couldn't tell any difference so i bought a sound bar and use that for tv volume. I can stream music to it, as well.

I think you can set the Jensen head unit (stereo) to HDMI ARC (it's one of the sources) and the sound will feedback to the stereo. ARC is the "Audio Return Channel" on the HDMI wire that's hooked up. The TV has RCA outputs and the stereo has RCA inputs, but you have to remove it from the cabinet to plug those in to the side of the stereo. You will still be disappointed in the sound with those crappy 2" speakers in the cabinet. 4W per channel is pitiful.

If you're real adventurous and a car stereo enthusiast, you can install an aftermarket amplifier and larger front speakers and a large subwoofer behind the recliners. It completely changed movie watching in my 3790. Great for music too. It only took me one trip to convince the family we needed to upgrade.

Here's a pic of the back panel of the TV. The two RCA cables on the left are the output to the Jensen headunit.

The 1/8" stereo headphone jack is to the right of the RCAs.

Jetskier. Thank you for the detailed info. If the speakers aren't worth the effort, I think I want to get a good soundbar and call it a day. My question is which plug on the back of the tv do I plug a soundbar into? SPDIF? It's hard to tell the type of plugs. Thanks.

It depends on the sound bar you select, but you have those output options for analog or the digital audio

If you use the RCA's on the Back of the TV you don't get enough Volume output. And if you use the 1/8 Mini your TV Volume control will still work. But your stereo allways needs to be on for TV sound.
I just never turn the stereo off.
