Put floor in front generator space ?

Hi, have a 2015 3611RL and want to put a floor for water proofing of some kind in the front generator space. It has cuts in the metal floor I assume are for a generator to vent, but we dont need a generator. Am I missing something , or will a floor be fine to add ?

I put plywood in the old rig because I had six agm golf cart batteries there. In the new rig I have a rubber entry mat there and stuff stored on top of it.

I don't think that a floor is a problem there. However, I would put a waterproof barrier down first.

i was thinking along the lines of a "flow-through" mud flap, or something along that line.
something that would allow any liquid flow out unmolested.
and then on top of that a home built rack to hold at least 6 (maybe 8) 6volt deep cycle batteries. + maintenance gear.

i know weight. but would give me plenty of 12 volt juice as needed. as i would be using solar as the primary source. and a gen as "added" back-up.
but the rack would be made in a way to spread out the weight over the whole gen bay. and to frame as possible.

I put black caulking on all the cuts and let them dry. I then did put a rubber mat down. Keeps everything nice and dry and if you are travelling on gravel roads the dust won't get in.

All those cuts are there to make it easy to finish cutting out that floor to add a gennie, but for those of us that don't go that route, they are a pain in the hootie. Gorilla tape then ply seems like a good solution.

I used Gorilla tape and then cut a rubber entrance mat to fit with cargo holding it down. That keeps the road splash from coming in but there are still openings through to the LP lockers which have no floor so it's not completely water tight.

I put marine plywood and store my grill there (ideal size for Coleman NXT). I like the idea that if the grill has any residual grease it is not smelling up an airtight compartment and other equipment.

Thinking about modifying the sheet metal though to make that compartment take advantage of wasted space above it. That would allow for shelf to store small gas bottles (for grill) and cintronella oil lamps.

Mentioning the gas grill reminds me. There is a T in the butane lines right at front of camper. I suspect it might be a fuel line setup for gen prep. Looks like perfect spot for a valve and quick connect for accessories like that grill!!
